1775 - ????
Son of slave-trader and slave-owner John Collard (d. 1788). John Marshall Collard, "about a year old", and Martha Amelia Collard, childen of John Collard, merchant, of St Augustine's, and Joanna his wife, baptised 21/01/1776 at Lewins Mead Chapel (a Unitarian meeting house), Bristol. John Marshall Collard of Cricklade St Mary, Wiltshire, bachelor, married Elizabeth Lysons of this parish in Rodmarton, 03/09/1799. Their son, also named John Marshall Collard, matriculated Exeter College in 1820 age 18; Alumni Oxonienses gives John Marshall Collard senior as of Ashley, Wiltshire, armigerous. [Rev.] John Marshall Collard junior was baptised 22/03/1802 in Cowley, Gloucestershire. John Marshall Collard senior was deceased by July 1810. He appears to have been transatlantic: he had made his will in Bristol in 1805, in which he refers to property in Gloucestershire, but appears in the Jamaica Almanac in 1808 as an ensign in the militia (as J.M. Collard).
