Mary Ann von Dadelszen (née Turner)

Awarded 1/16th of the compensation for the Dunbarton estate in St Ann Jamaica, one of a large group of claimants described collectively as 'representatives of William Gale Redwar.' She also owned 2 enslaved persons in Clarendon, Jamaica.  Mary Ann Turner was the daughter of planter Dutton Smith Turner and Mary Gale Turner (née Redwar), and grand-daughters of Henry Redwar of Dunbarton estate. Nephew of William Gale Redwar (q.v.).

1. Her brother Edward Turner (q.v.) was an eminent chemist: he was a lecturer in Chemistry at Edinburgh University between 1824 and 1827 and 'collected around him the remaining unsettled members of his family - a clever boy and four young, handsome and accomplished sisters'.

2. Mary Anne Turner of Hampstead, daughter of Dutton Smith Turner, married Heinrich Hermann von Dadelszen, gentleman of Hampstead 28/08/1838 at St John Hampstead, on the same day as the marriage of her sister Sarah White Turner (q.v.). They had a son born in Vepery, Madras, in 1839, where von Dadelszen was a minister. Another son was born in 1847. Heinrich died in Ceylon, 'shortly after his appointment as Colonial Chaplain of Trinity Church, Colombo, in 1852.'
