Thomas Breakenridge

Owner of Philip's Valley estate, Port Royal, Jamaica, deceased by 1834. Father of Peter Breakenridge (q.v.), to whom he left an annuity of £50 pa. Compensation for the ownership of enslaved persons on Philip's Valley estate was awarded to his administrator, Charles Harvey.

1. Assumed to be the Thomas Breakenridge who was christened 25/03/1778 in Campbeltown, Argyll, Scotland, as this would make him the brother of Mary, Isabella and Ann Breakenridge who were beneficiaries of the compensation for Philip's Valley. Parents were John Breakenridge (died 1800 age 49, a provision merchant) and Mary Langwill (died 1796 age 39). Memorial inscription in Old Kilkerran Cemetary, Argyll, states he died in 1825 aged 46.

2. Listed as owner of land and 4 enslaved persons in Port Royal in 1825.
