What is this?

1723
[Mortgage] 00/00/0000

On the marriage of Samuel Long and Mary Tate in 1723, the marriage settlement involved a guarantee of £300 per annum to Mary if she should survive Samuel, charged on Longville estate (part of Seven Plantations, Clarendon) and a moity of Lucky Valley. The jointure was defended against the incumbrances which at the time affected Samuel's estates, including a mortgage contracted by Charles Long of the premises to John Carver, George Turbill and Stanton Thompson of the Middle Temple, Esquires, of £4000 and interest.
