UCL CLES holds its first ever South Asian Competition Law Conference

  • UCL CLES holds its first ever South Asian Competition Law Conference

On Tuesday 6th November, the 1st UCL South Asian Competition Law Conference was held at Bentham House, organised by the UCL Centre for Law, Economics and Society (UCL CLES).

The theme of the Conference was ‘Adoption, Implementation and Impact of the Indian and Pakistani Competition Laws’, and explored the progress made by India and Pakistan in the first decade of the enforcement of their respective competition laws.

Attendees heard from a range of speakers including former Competition Commission of India chairperson Dhanendra Kumar and Professor Aditya Bhattacharjea, Professor at Delhi School of Economics. Speakers also included Professor Ioannis Lianos, Director for UCL CLES; and Dr Amber Darr, Teaching fellow at UCL Laws.

The Conference was covered in various publications in India, including Business Standard; as well as The News International, the largest English language newspaper in Pakistan.
