Since graduating from the UCL Laws LLM programme with a specialism in International Commercial Law in 2005, I’ve become a partner in a leading business law firm in Italy.
I wanted to join UCL Laws because of the fantastic LLM programme and its international contacts. My background was in Italian law and when I had the chance to conclude my studies abroad, the choice of London and UCL came as a natural one.
What I loved most about my time at UCL was immersing myself into university life – specifically, living in London. London is a city full of tradition, opportunities and life and UCL fully represents its spirit and a place where things happen.
At class, the exchange with professors was very inspiring and direct. The courses and the hours spent at the library allowed me to get to know students from every part of the world, each of them bringing in their experience and different points of views. Studying in London meant we were surrounded by new places to be discovered or just go to for drinks and dinner together at the end of the day.
A few weeks after graduation, I was hired by the major Italian law firm Gianni, Origoni, Grippo, Cappelli & Partners, of which I became a partner in the M&A and corporate department a few years later, focusing on private equity transactions.
Even though more than ten years have passed since graduating, I am still in touch with several former fellow students at UCL Laws, many of whom became lifetime friends. The exchange I still have with them gives me a unique opportunity to discuss and co-operate on cross border legal matters.
My experience in London at UCL Laws will always bring back special memories. I would encourage anyone considering applying to UCL Laws to always believe in what you can achieve!
