Sophos Anti-Virus licensing changes

Sophos - one of the main Anti-virus applications used by UCL is changing the terms of its software agreement on the 31st March 2019, see the advice below on how to prepare.

From 31 March 2019 Sophos is changing the terms of its licence agreement with UCL.

The new agreement will no longer be a site licence for unlimited use within UCL. ISD have bought enough licences for all the current usage of the product on UCL machines and, in addition further licences based on the numbers we have received from departments, and some contingency. Access to Sophos on the software database will no longer be available to all and will be restricted. The rights to use Sophos on personal machines for both staff and students will no longer be available and instead UCL will make the following anti-virus options below available for use on personal machines *.

On the 1st April you will need enter to new Sophos credentials, these will be distributed to IT managers and made available on the software database. If you  do not enter new credentials or move to Fsecure for Mac or Sophos Home edition for personal machines, you will leave your machine vulnerable to infection.

UCL’s recommended Anti-Virus options are below, the VPN options are likely to change and we recommend you check for the latest updates: UCL Virtual Private Network.
