Connecting to public BT Wi-Fi network without a BT account

7 January 2021

Are you struggling with poor Wi-Fi connectivity while working remotely?

We have just launched a new service for UCL staff and students to use the BT public Wi-Fi network without a BT account.

If you are stuggling with a poor connection and there is a BT wifi access point where you are you can now connect to it using the UCL VPN client. As well as BT Openzone, access to public BT wifi is widespread in the UK and may offer a solution.

You will need to download the UCL VPN software before trying to connect using this method. Full instructions are available in our How To guide

Although the How to Guide shows a Windows 10 setup the same process will work for Mac computers. We are working on a separate guide specifically showing the Mac instructions
