Update: Service restored 10:30am 20 December 2017. Silva migration 19 December 2017 - Silva websites and CMS
6 December 2017
Update: 20 December 10:30am
All UCL Silva websites are now working as normal. Apologies for the delays in restoring service. All Silva editors should be able to edit their sites again although performance may be slow for the next hour.
On Tuesday 19 December we will be migrating Silva to the new infrastructure as part of the Wolfson House Data Centre Migration Programme.
This work will take place between 8am and 5pm. During this time the following services will be affected:
- There will be no access to authenticated content including Intranets
- There will be no access to Silva pages for editing
Externally-facing websites will be available to website users throughout the migration.
If you are a Silva editor, please make sure you have completed any editing by 5pm on Friday 15 December. After this time we will be taking a snapshot of all Silva websites which will be made available during the migration period. Any edits made during the content freeze between Friday 15 December at 5pm and Tuesday 19 December at 8am will go live on the website as usual but will not be captured as part of the snapshot. This means that if you make a change between Friday 15 at 5pm and Tuesday at 8am the content will not be available during the migration window (8am-5pm 19 December). In other words the site displayed on Tuesday 19 December is the site that was live at 5pm on 15 December. Any content changes made during this content freeze will appear once the migration is completed.
While we will make every effort to ensure the snapshot is as complete a representation of the webpages on the current Silva system as possible, please be aware that there may be some disruption to pages throughout the migration.
Silva links to external websites/blogs/applications will not work. This is where you can 'fake' a menu link to an external site or application. We advise editors to change this to a standard hyperlink in content on the page before the migration so that access to the external site will continue to work on the Tuesday.
We also advise colleagues to save any frequently used intranet documents to a local location before 19 December.
All content and functionality will be fully restored by the end of the day.
Please note this only affects websites on the Silva CMS platform.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
