This event will explore how a national minimum wage affects wages, and in particular, racial earning disparities in a middle-income country with a large informal sector.

Claire Montialoux will discuss this within the context of the Brazilian economy from 1999 to 2009. She'll also analyse how the minimum wage increases of the 2000s led to a large decline in the economy-wide racial income gap in Brazil.

This event will be particularly useful for researchers, economists and policy makers.

Please note this is a hybrid event and can be joined either in-person or online.
