Facing the future with courage for foundational learning in Africa
Join this event to hear John Mugo discuss and reflect on the challenges and opportunities to improve foundational learning for children in Africa.

In this seminar, John will draw on evidence from the African Evidence Forum on Foundational Learning to discuss some of the key questions facing African countries around foundational learning – why does it matter, how does it connect or disconnect from broader political and economic challenges facing the continent, and what are the innovations in policy and practice that offer opportunities for deep and sustained change?
John will also reflect on his twenty years’ experience of working on these issues in Africa and explore what is needed going forward, including from academic communities in Africa and the UK.
This event will be particularly useful for researchers, students, policy makers and practitioners who are interested in issues around education and learning in Africa.
Please note this is a hybrid event and can be joined either in-person or online.
