Grades and grade inflation in higher education
Join this seminar to hear Ian Walker talk about the steady rise in the proportion of students getting a first class degree.

Professor Walker will discuss the considerable unexplained variation, across subjects and institutions.
He will look into both the level of grades and their rate of inflation, and the fact that a large proportion of students fail to get good grades and end up having low financial returns to their time at university – even if they studied high return subjects.
This event will be particularly useful for those interested in higher education and assessments.
It will be a hybrid seminar and can be enjoyed either in-person or online.
