CANCELLED: Photography exhibition exploring young people's relationships with Chinese culture
This event has been cancelled due to the extended UK lockdown. We apologise for any inconvenience.
An exhibition of 36 shortlisted and winning entries to the IOE Confucius Institute for Schools' 2019 Young Photographer's Competition dispels cultural stereotypes of China and shows the vast country through the eyes of young people.
Open to anyone aged 18 years and under, the competition featured five China-related categories that young people could interpret in different ways. Four of the five categories included photographs that were taken in China and the fifth category was for photos with a Chinese theme that had been taken in the UK.
Categories
- China in colour (Portfolio).
- China and her food.
- The people of China.
- Young China (Under 14).
- China at home (UK-based).
The majority of the entries came from school students in the UK and feature photographs that the students have taken on school trips or holidays to China. Shortlisted entries were announced in December 2019.
The exhibition was also displayed at the Chinese Embassy’s Chinese New Year Evening Reception. The Young Photographers Competition is generously supported by the Chinese Embassy in London.
