De-traditionalisation, migration, extremism and rising inequalities: education of Muslims as input for debating citizenship as a core value for education
In June 2016, CREME, in collaboration with Professor Ben Bachmair (University of Kassel) organised a workshop to explore the challenges to education posed by migration from Muslim majority countries, particularly from Syria.
The workshop's central aim was to discuss a peer-to-peer citizenship education project pioneered in Germany to support migrant children. Details of the project were presented to delegates from local government, think tanks, academia and organisations including the 3 Faith Forum.
CREME is now exploring the possibility of running similar projects in the UK.
