UCL BiLingo

A UCL-based education and information service. Available to anyone interested or involved with raising, educating, and caring for bilingual/multilingual children.

We aim to provide the London community and key agencies in the capital with the most up-to-date research-based advice, information, support and training on childhood bilingualism/multilingualism and learning English as an Additional Language (EAL).

We are living in the most linguistically diverse city in the world

The latest official figures reveal that more than 300 languages are spoken in London’s schools, offering new cultural perspectives and linguistic richness to all of London’s pupils.

Many of these bilingual/multilingual children growing up in London attend Complementary Schools (Community Language Schools) on Saturdays/evenings to maintain their home language(s) in addition to their Mainstream School, where they acquire English as an Additional Language (EAL children).

Outreach events

We have held many events and met many teachers and parents across London. It has been really interesting to share experiences of raising bilingual and multilingual children.

Bilingual books and websites for parents, schools and practitioners.

About us

We are a group of UCL-based researchers working in different areas of bilingual/multilingual language development in children.
