Workshop: The Future of Protest, including screening of 'The Troublemaker'

Registration is not required to attend the workshop; only the film screening requires registration. All welcome, including students. 

Programme

June 27, 2022

Session 1 (10:15-11:45): Multi-disciplinary perspectives on researching protest: From the past to the present.
Presentations and discussion on trends in protest over time and across space, the use of images and narratives from the past in present-day protests, and the sounds of protest.
Location: Institute of Advanced Studies Common Ground (G11, South Wing, Wilkins Building).

Session 2 (13:00-14:30): Different disciplinary perspectives on researching protest: From offline to online activism.
Presentations and discussion on how people mobilise offline and online, and how activists are navigating states use of both offline and online repression and restrictions.
Location: Institute of Advanced Studies Common Ground (G11, South Wing, Wilkins Building).

Session 3 (15:00-17:00): Screening of ‘The Troublemaker’, followed by panel discussion with the filmmaker, Sasha Snow, and activists.
