I am a Research Associate in the Department of Information Studies (DIS) at University College London (UCL) and Vice Dean | Enterprise for the Faculty of Arts and Humanities. I am also an honorary member of the Department of Computer Science. My research is on how computers handle non-Roman scripts, especially the Han script, and on languages and wikis. I am Co-Chair of ICANN's Translation and Transliteration of Contact Information Policy Development Process Working Group. I was a member of the String Similarity Evaluation Panel Core Team during the First Round of ICANN's New gTLD Program. I organize Digital Linguist Network meetings. I am the editor of the Bridge to China wiki.
