New Mandatory Training arrangements for Clinical Consultants on joint appointments with UCLH
6 March 2024
New arrangements were introduced to reduce the duplication of mandatory training that Clinical Consultants on joint appointments with UCLH are required to do.
Dear Colleagues,
Please note some new arrangements for reducing the duplication of mandatory training that Clinical Consultants on joint appointments with UCLH are required to do. This agreement does not currently apply to researchers or other staff groups working across both organisations.
We are writing to inform you of a significant development regarding mandatory training courses for clinicians affiliated (via joint, permanent appointments) with both University College London (UCL) and University College London Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (UCLH).
We are pleased to announce that a formal agreement has been established between UCL and UCLH. As a result of this collaboration, clinicians who successfully complete specified mandatory training at UCLH, will be granted exemption from undergoing similar training within the UCL mandatory training requirements.
The specific UCL mandatory training courses covered under this agreement are as follows:
- Data Protection and Freedom of Information
- Information Security Training
- Prevent at UCL
- Introduction to Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion
- Basic Fire Safety
- Safety Induction
It is vital that clinicians always keep their mandatory training records up to date at UCLH for this collaboration to work. UCLH will send the data to UCL each month under the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the organisations.
This collaboration signifies a significant step forward in streamlining training protocols for clinicians, ensuring efficiency and consistency in compliance measures across both UCL and UCLH.
Should you require any further information or clarification regarding this agreement, please do not hesitate to reach out to Matthew Nolan (Head of Education Services, UCLH) or Ankur Shah (Digital Learning & Technologies manager, UCL).
Thank you for your attention to this matter, and we look forward to continued collaboration between UCL and UCLH. We will now be talking to other NHS Trusts to implement this arrangement.
