Unitemps fee increase for full recruitment support

The Unitemps team provide a range of support for colleagues across UCL by helping departments advertise their temporary opportunities to UCL Students and Alumni as well as offering the ability for departments to engage with one-off assignments including guest lecturers.
Unitemps launched in 2018 with the intention for recruitment through Unitemps to include an 8% fee for recruitment. At launch, it was agreed that a discount would apply for Unitemps services for the first two years. From 4 October 2021, the Unitemps fee for full recruitment support is due to increase to 8% as previously communicated.
Unitemps offers a streamlined, online management of temporary workers that saves time and reduces admin work for hiring managers, removing the need to carry out eligibility to work checks and process payments manually via MyHR. Unitemps has grown significantly over the years and the team have been able to offer a wider range of services, from engaging with individuals on behalf of departments and conducting right to work checks through to running full recruitment campaigns for single roles and larger campaigns that include supporting the shortlisting and interview arrangements as well as referencing candidates.
The initially agreed Unitemps fee was set at 8%. For over two years the fee was fixed at 3% and increased to 5% effective from February 2021. In order to sustain this service and continue being able to provide high levels of support to departments and hiring managers, the fee paid for Unitemps services now needs to increase to the level originally advised. Based on feedback from departments, a decision was made to maintain the 5% fee for direct bookings and to increase the fee to 8% for full recruitment campaigns.
From 4 October 2021, the Unitemps fee for full recruitment support will increase to 8%. The increase will be applied to new roles where Unitemps supply candidates to departments. There will be no change to the fee for direct bookings, where the hiring managers already know who they want to engage via Unitemps.
Over the past year, Unitemps sourced over 850 candidates across 220 different jobs. The team have supported colleagues with some large recruitment campaigns including:
- 200 x Asymptomatic COVID-19 testing Assistants and Sample Processors
- 180 x Accommodation Ambassadors and Teams Leaders
- 65 x Keeping in Touch Student Ambassadors
- 30 x Library Information Assistants, ID Card Production staff, part-time Research Assistants, and many more
