Dr Brandon Yen

Brandon Yen teaches Translation and Direct Reading (with Penny Barrett) for the MA in Chinese Health and Humanity. He holds a PhD in English literature from the University of Cambridge and formerly worked as an Irish Research Council Government of Ireland Postdoctoral Fellow at University College Cork.

As well as looking at English literary tourists in pre-famine Ireland, his research explores the intersections between history, literature, visual art, and the environment in Britain, Ireland, and China.
Brandon's most recent book is Versed in Living Nature: Wordsworth's Trees (co-authored with Peter Dale; Reaktion Books, 2022), and his first monograph is 'The Excursion' and Wordsworth's Iconography (Liverpool University Press, 2018). He has written widely on British, Irish, and East Asian topics for journals and websites such as History Today, The Dublin Review of Books, The Irish Review, History Ireland, the Mekong Review, Hortus, and RTÉ.

Brandon also works as a visual artist and a Mandarin-to-English translator.
