UCL History welcomes new head of department
20 August 2018
Congratulations to Professor Eleanor Robson.
As of today, 20 August, UCL History has a new Head of Department. Professor Eleanor Robson, who works on the ancient history of the Middle East, succeeds Professor Jason Peacey in the role.
Jason has been in post for three years, the usual term of office. His hard work and genial leadership during this time were both gratefully recognised by colleagues at the annual departmental dinner in June. He will now begin a well-earned period of sabbatical leave on which to pursue his research in early modern print culture.
Eleanor will combine her duties as head of department with her role as lead investigator on the Nahrein Network, an AHRC-funded project running from 2017-21. The project works closely with local communities in Iraq and the surrounding area, using ancient history research as a stimulus for educational and economic development. You can read more about its goals on the dedicated project website, or by following its social media feeds.
