NCDs in Africa talk - Prof Ama de Graft Aikins

A visiting scholar from Ghana speaks about non-communicable diseases in Africa

The Grand Challenge of Global Health and the Institute for Advanced Studies are pleased to invite people to attend a talk on "NCDs in Africa: Sugar disease, bitter medicine - diabetes in urban Ghana" delivered by University of Ghana visiting scholar Professor Ama de Graft Aikins.

Ama de Graft Aikins is Professor of Social Psychology and Dean of International Programmes at the University of Ghana and a visiting scholar at UCL. Professor de Graft Aikin's research focuses on experiences and representations of chronic physical and mental illnesses, Africa's chronic non-communicable disease (NCD) burden and the social psychology of knowledge in African settings.

The event will take place on Thursday 30 November in the IAS Common Ground room in the Wilkins Building on Gower Street from 16.00-18.00 followed by a reception from 18.00-18.30. Attendance is free of charge, but numbers are limited, so people are kindly requested to register in advance.
