Prof Graham Hart appointed to Chair Medical Research Council Research Board

Professor Graham Hart, leading IGH expert in sexual health and HIV research, has been appointed as Chair of the Medical Research Council (MRC) Applied Global Health Research Board for two years.

MRC’s Global Health Board funds research projects that will develop practical solutions to global health challenges and inequities. The aim is to fund a portfolio of high-quality global research, which will be diverse, promote multidisciplinarity and strengthen global health research capacity.  The most recent call for applications can be found here: https://www.ukri.org/opportunity/applied-global-health-research/

Professor Hart said “I am honoured and delighted to have been given this opportunity to support exceptionally high quality applied research to improve population health internationally. The Board has a membership of world-leading researchers from the UK and global South and I look forward to working closely with them, as well as with colleagues in MRC and across UKRI, to deliver better health outcomes for those most in need.” 

Professor Hart was formerly Dean of the Faculty of Population Health Sciences (2011 – 2021), during which time he created the UCL Institute for Global Health, and the UCL Global Business School for Health

Professor Hart is currently Co-Director of UCL Health of the Public and a Non-Executive Member of the Advisory Board of the UK Health Security Agency
