ICGNMD fellows attend World Muscle Society Conference in Halifax, Canada
14 October 2022
Thanks to funding support from WMS, Four ICGNMD fellows: Dr. Vishnu VY. from AIIMS, India, Dr Özlem Yayici Köken, Akdeniz University, Antalya, Turkey, Dr Pedro Tomaselli, University of São Paolo, São Paolo, Brazil, and Dr Rodrigo Frezatti, University of São Paolo, São Paolo, Brazil recently attended the World Muscle Society conference in Halifax, Canada
All fellows presented research posters at the event, and were able to take advantage of networking opportunities with the wider neuromuscular research communities, and also to meet with other ICGNMD members also in attendance, notably Prof Volker Straub, ICGNMD Co-Director at Newcastle University, and Prof Francesco Muntoni, ICGNMD Co-Director from UCL GOSH ICH,
Despite partner countries being some of the worst-impacted by the pandemic, they established and grew the ICGNMD so well that we are now on target and starting to see exciting data outputs. The 2022 WMS Congress is especially well-timed for Fellows to discuss their work with international delegates, and of course to see one another again after an extraordinary few years.
Professor Michael Hanna, ICGNMD Director, said: "We are very grateful to the World Muscle Society for its generous support of our outstanding ICGNMD Fellows to attend conferences in 2022 and 2023. The meeting in Halifax will be the first opportunity for Fellows to present some of their ICGNMD work to an international audience and I know they are all looking forward to the networking opportunities this will afford."
