Research summary

My research revolves around the pedagogical potential of new technologies, more specifically cloud subtitling, and the latest innovations in translation education.

I am involved in a number of international research projects on audiovisual translation theory and practice.

Programme Director: MSc in Translation and Technology (Audiovisual | Scientific, Technical and Medical | with Interpreting) at CenTraS (2020–2023).

Module Convenor: ELCS007 Audiovisual Translation at SELCS (2018–to date); CMII0092 Professional Skills for Translators at CenTraS (2018–2019, 2020–2021); CMII0098 Translating for Voiceover and Dubbing at CenTraS (2017–2018).

Tutor: SPAN0001 and SPAN0016 Spanish<>English translation components at UG level (2017–to date); CMII0097 Subtitling and CMII0098 Translating for Voiceover and Dubbing at PG level (2016–2018). I also teach all modules I convene.

I am Lecturer (Teaching) in Audiovisual Translation at University College London, UK. I am a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA) and a Member (MCIL) and Chartered Linguist (CL) of the Chartered Institute of Linguists (CIoL).

I teach (audiovisual) translation and Spanish language and culture at both the Centre for Translation Studies (CenTraS) and the Department of Spanish, Portuguese and Latin American Studies (SPLAS). I was the Programme Director of the MSc in Translation & Technology at CenTraS between 2020 and 2023.

I hold a joint BA Hons in Translation & Interpreting and Humanities Studies from Pablo de Olavide University (Seville, Spain) and an MA in Literary Translation for the Publishing Industry from the University of Malaga, Spain, as well as an MSc in Audiovisual Translation and a PhD in Translation Studies from University College London, UK.
