Taster Days for Schools

Is your school interested in language awareness, multilingualism and foreign language learning? Then apply for a place in one of our Taster Days this summer!

We are inviting applications to join one of our three Taster Days this summer (5 June, 19 June or 5 July 2023).

Our Taster Days, which will run from 10am to 2pm, will include the following:

  • A Language and Culture workshop in combination with a visit to our in-house exhibition on language learning, Not Just Words: Learning languages through art and objects: https://www.ucl.ac.uk/culture/whats-on/not-just-words
  • A tour of UCL's historic Bloomsbury campus
  • A surprise language taster

A free vegetarian packed lunch will be provided to all Taster Days participants.

Schools should send us requests to join one of our Taster Days by completing this form by no later than Monday 22 May 2023:
https://forms.office.com/e/y8yNXK5gig

Places on our Taster Days are limited, and priority will be given to non-selective state schools. If we are unable to accommodate your request this year and continue to run these Taste Days next year, please reapply as we will prioritise new schools.

If you have any questions prior to submitting your request, please email Elettra Carbone (Outreach and WP Tutor, School of European Languages, Culture and Society) at elettra.carbone@ucl.ac.uk, and Christine Sas (Deputy Outreach and WP Tutor, School of European Languages, Culture and Society) at c.sas@ucl.ac.uk.

SELCS wishes to acknowledge its thanks to UCL Access and Widening Participation for its generous support through its Access Initiative Funding Scheme which has made these three Taster Days possible.
