Sri Lanka and the Crossroads of History

UCL Press and the Institute of Advanced Studies (IAS) held a book launch event for “Sri Lanka at the Crossroads of History” on 16 October 2017. This volume, co-edited by Dr Zoltán Biedermann (UCL) and Dr Alan Strathern (Oxford) explores the pre-modern history of this Indian Ocean island, which was once one of the largest Portuguese colonies in Asia. Speakers included Dr Alexander Samson, Dr Jagjeet Lally and Dr Tariq Jazeel. This is the first book published by a member of the department with the new press, which is pioneering academic Open Access publishing in the UK. The book can be downloaded free of charge here.
