A multimedia new version of the Spanish play ‘Yerma’ by the playwright Federico Garcia Lorca. Also inspired by ‘The Pursuit of Motherhood’ by Jessica Hepburn. Yerma is a career woman who wants a child but the years pass and she is still childless. Family, friends and a former lover seem to support Yerma’s desire and feelings, but to what extent? Sound, recorded voices and artistic projections illustrate hidden emotions and impulses. This is a passionate play on a timeless theme.
This performance will be followed by a Q & A with Professor Joyce Harper (on Monday), and Dr Zeynep Gurtin (on Tuesday), both researchers at the UCL Institute for Women’s Health, in the Reproductive Science and Society group.
