Kirsty Hughes is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh and was the founder and director of the Scottish Centre on European Relations from 2017-2021. She is a leading expert on European politics and public policy. She has worked at a number of major European think tanks, including as European Director at Chatham House, and as a Senior Fellow at Friends of Europe and the Centre for European Policy Studies, as well as an academic at the universities of East Anglia and Manchester. She has published extensively on European and international politics including books, articles, reports and as a journalist. She has also been a senior political adviser in the European Commission.
