The dataset therefore consists of individuals who are:
- present at the 1991 Census and
- living in a private household at the 1991 Census and
- aged 65 or over at the 1991 Census and
- present at the 2001 Census (in any type of household).
Certain people will have to be dropped:
- those who are only visitors to an address on either Census night; and
- those enumerated at more than one address on either Census night.
