Patient and Public Involvement in Research

There are few things more personal to people’s lives than their healthcare experiences. There are many, many factors that go into making our decisions when seeking care for ourselves or a loved one. Without recognising this and placing people’s experience at the core of our thinking, how can we as researchers claim to be affecting meaningful change in people’s lives?

Within ECHO we strive to integrate effective and novel approaches to PPI across our workstreams. By co-producing our studies with patients and members of the public, and crucially involving them through-out the entire process, we aim to create better research that best meets peoples needs and substantial improvements to current treatments.
