Difficult childhood increases likelihood of mental and physical health problems as an adult

Abuse and neglect can have a detrimental impact on a person’s long-term physical and mental health, and has been linked to accelerated ageing, chronic disease and even premature death, says Professor Sir Michael Marmot (UCL Epidemiology & Public Health).
