Initial conversations between a PhD student and supervisor

A number of key issues should be discussed between a supervisor and a new research degree student at the start of their programme (please see 'Proforma additional information' for guidance). 

• Students should take the 'Proforma for first year research students' to their first meeting with their supervisor and complete it with them.
• The initial meeting should take place within the first 4 weeks after start of PhD 
• Completed forms should be sent to the local, Institute Research Degrees Administrator (Andreas Opitz, a.opitz@ucl.ac.uk) and cc'd to the Institute Graduate Tutor (Annie Britton, a.britton@ucl.ac.uk). 
• Both the student and supervisor must read the Code of Practice for Research Students before the Project and Supervision commences.
