50 women in robotics you need to know about

12 October 2021

Head of the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering (EEE), Prof. Sarah Spurgeon, features in an eminent list of '50 women in robotics you need to know about in 2021'.

Prof. Sarah Spurgeon

Each year the Women in Robotics select a representative selection of inspiring women in robotics (from an increasingly huge shortlist!) with the goal of providing a role model for women of all ages and career stages, from as many parts of the world as possible.

Sarah is one of the leads at UCL Robotics, a cross-faculty initiative to develop a world-class teaching and research platform in Robotics and Autonomous Systems.

On featuring in the prominent list, Sarah said:

I am very honoured to be selected for this years list. Robotics is pervasive in society and to get the best from the opportunities that the technology provides we need to encourage corresponding diversity in the teams that work in the area. It is essential that we work together to encourage more women to see careers in robotics as exciting and varied with something for everyone.

Women in Robotics is a non profit organization provides that provides a community for women working in robotics and women who’d like to work in robotics. There are now more than 2000 women from 16 chapters around the world.
