Professor Georgios Zervas from the Optical Networks Group at UCL, was recently awarded the Fabio Neri Best Paper 2020 for the paper ‘Reconfigurable optical star network architecture for multicast media production data centres’.

Certificate for 2020 Fabio Neri Best Paper Award

Professor Georgios Zervas from the Optical Networks Group at UCL, was recently awarded the Fabio Neri Best Paper 2020 for the paper ‘Reconfigurable optical star network architecture for multicast media production data centres’ which he co-authored and published in the journal Optical Switching and Networking.

The Fabio Neri Best Paper Award is presented annually to the best research paper published in Optical Switching and Networking (OSN). The award is named after Fabio Neri, who was a pioneer in the field of optical networks and founding co-Editor-in-Chief of OSN, and celebrates his memory by recognising and promoting excellence in research.

This is the fourth time in 10 years that Professor Zervas has either been awarded the prize or been runner-up. He commented:

"It is a privilege to be recognised for a fourth time in 10 years with this esteemed award. This signifies the consistently outstanding work of my group and world-leading research contributions of the students and researchers that I’ve been fortunate to work with."

Congratulations to George and his co-authors, Adam Funnell (a former member of the Optical Networks Group) and David Butler, on winning the 2020 award.
