Dr Mat Fuller

After studying psychology at Goldsmiths University, Mat worked as a special needs assistant and assessment officer at a residential special school in Brighton. Mat began his Doctorate in Educational Psychology at UCL in 2015 and completed this in 2018. His doctoral research looked at the educational experiences of unaccompanied asylum-seeking minors, as well as the links between mentoring interventions and school connectedness. Mat completed his third-year placement as a trainee educational psychologist in Barnet and stayed with this team until August 2021. During his time in Barnet, he developed a resiliency building intervention for children affected by the Coronavirus outbreak and lead a working group looking at how EPs could monitor the impact of their work.

Mat has been working as a senior educational psychologist in Havering since September 2021. Whilst working here, Mat has lead on a project that aimed to support the mental health of children with a social worker and developed a training programme for school staff. Mat is also currently leading on the service’s practice supervision programme and critical incident response policy.

Mat’s professional interests include; refugee education, school based mental health support, executive functioning, practice supervision, training and critical incident support.
