Registration information for non-economics students in other departments.
Elective module portfolio
The following elective modules are open to non-economics students in other departments:
- ECON0008: History of Economic Thought (Term 1);
- ECON0011: Basic Microeconomic Concepts (Term 2);
- ECON0044: An Introduction to Applied Economic Analysis (Term 1).
To register for one of the modules above, please refer to the UCL Module Catalogue, and then log on to PORTICO and select the module you wish to take. Places will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis by date in PORTICO. Module registration for 2021/22 is expected to be available in PORTICO for all new and continuing students from 06 September 2021.
As spaces on some modules are quite limited, registration is not guaranteed. If successful you will receive notification via PORTICO so you should check your account regularly.
The first two modules in the list have no prerequisites but students should note that for ECON0011 some mathematics is involved so a pass at A-level (or equivalent) is advantageous.
For any module you select you will be allocated to a compulsory tutorial class which will appear in your online personal timetable.
If you need any academic assistance or are unsure whether you meet the requirements then you should contact Dr Frank Witte Departmental Tutor.
Inter-departmental and joint-degree students
Inter-departmental and joint-degree students should refer to their programme requirements and seek initial advice from their parent department. Further advice can be sought from the relevant joint-degree tutor in the Department of Economics.
Affiliate students from other departments are advised to take a look at the Affiliate FAQs and add any module(s) from the list above to their PORTICO selection. If ECON0011 is selected please send a copy of your most recent transcript to email@example.com to show how you meet the prerequisites.
