UCL economists elected as Fellows of the Academy of Social Sciences

Three academics from the Department of Economics, Professor Sir Richard Blundell, Professor Wendy Carlin and Professor Imran Rasul have been elected as Fellows of the Academy of Social Sciences recognising their outstanding contribution to the field of economics.

  • Professor Sir Richard Blundell holds the David Ricardo Chair of Political Economy at UCL and his research focuses on microeconometrics, labour economics, public finance, consumer behaviour, labour supply, inequality, household behaviour, human capital and tax policy analysis.
  • Professor Wendy Carlin CBE FBA (UCL Economics) is a Professor of Economics, who leads the international CORE project to reform undergraduate economics curriculum and whose research focuses on macroeconomics, institutions and economic performance, and the economics of transition.
  • Professor Imran Rasul is a Professor at UCL's Department of Economics and Director of the Centre for the Microeconomic Analysis of Public Policy at the Institute of Fiscal Studies.

The Academy of Social Sciences Fellowship comprises 1,500 social scientists from academia, the public, private and third sectors. New Fellows are recognised after an independent peer process for the impact of their cross-disciplinary work and their wider contributions to the social sciences for public benefit.
