Restorative Dental Practice MSc alumni
Once I had decided to commit to further training, I created a shortlist of potential options. The Eastman is a very well-established institution, with a huge reputation, and so I decided to attend the free taster day to help me decide.
The day was quite intense, with lots of information packed into such a short space of time, though it did not feel like I was being rushed. The teaching seemed appropriate to the level I would expect, and I left wanting to know more. I decided I would apply on my train journey home.
We have set learning objectives for each day, and though often it seems like we have impossible amounts to get through, I always leave having achieved these goals. We are given a great balance of lectures and hands-on practice, and I have really benefit from how friendly and approachable our tutors are. The ratio of student:teacher is always well-planned and we are given enough time to digest and act upon the teaching.
I have discovered the course is very demanding, but also flexible, meaning I can learn without taking too much time away from practice.
It has improved my understanding of how to critically appraise my own work and to work towards improvement. I can offer higher quality dentistry to my patients, with a much wider scope of possibilities than before. It was important for me to gain a solid grounding in general dentistry before moving on to my longer-term goals of limiting my practice to my chosen fields. This programme is greatly facilitating this.
I aim to complete this course and reassess the situation. I am considering further training in Prosthodontics, my area of particular interest.
