Dr. Yago Leira awarded the International Fonseca Prize by the Spanish Society of Periodontology

Many congratulations to Dr. Yago Leira, Senior Clinical Research Fellow in Periodontology, who was recently awarded the International Fonseca Prize during the 60th Annual Meeting of the Spanish Society of Periodontology in Valencia, Spain.

This award, the highest research prize given by the Society, is presented to the author of the best original paper published during the previous year.
 
Dr Leira's paper  “Periodontitis is associated with systemic inflammation and vascular endothelial dysfunction in patients with lacunar infarct” reflected research undertaken with the supervision of Professor Juan Blanco (University of Santiago, Spain) and Professor José Castillo (University Clinical Hospital of Santiago de Compostela, Spain) and was in collaboration with UCL Eastman's Professor Francesco D’Aiuto.
