British Orthodontic Conference: Success for UCL Eastman

The Orthodontic Department had success again at the recent British Orthodontic Conference in Brighton.

Kate Parker, who successfully completed her MClinDent last month, was awarded the J J Thompson prize for the best research protocol. This was for her study titled "A randomised controlled trial of a patient decision-making aid for orthodontic treatment", supervised by Dr Fiona Ryan and Professor Susan Cunningham.

Samir Farmahan, who is based at the John Radcliffe Hospital Oxford and the Eastman Dental Institute, was awarded second prize in the short oral presentations by trainees for the report of his randomised controlled trail investigating the effectivness of an App about hypodontia. Samir also successfully completed his MClinDent in September.

Finally Professor Susan Cunningham was awarded the Honorary Patron’s Cup for her contribution to the British Orthodontic Society.
