The Aesthetic Dentistry Advanced Series

This course runs alongside the UCL Advanced Aesthetic Dentistry PG Certificate.

The Aesthetic Dentistry Advanced Series covers step-by-step techniques for composite restorations, ceramics, and periodontal procedures. The days can be attended individually or as a seven-day course.

Each day is £399 and will run from 9:30am - 5pm at 123 Gray's Inn Road, London, WC1X 8WD. You will receive a certificate for 6.5 hours verifiable CPD per day.

We have courses under the following topics:

Step-by-step Ceramics: Crowns, Veneers and Bridges

These three days can be taken individually or together. Each day will have lectures in the morning followed by hands-on exercises in the afternoon.

Day 1: All-Ceramic Crowns

 This day will cover preparations and ceramic materials to select.

Aims and objectives 

This day will introduce the you to:

  • Indications for anterior all ceramic crowns
  • Ceramic materials types and characteristics for all-ceramic crowns
  • Step by step preparation for anterior and posterior all-ceramic crowns
  • Burs and armamentarium for predictable and time efficient preparations

Day 2: All-Ceramic Veneers

Aims and objectives 

This day will introduce the you to:

  • Indications for anterior all ceramic veneers
  • Ceramic materials types and characteristics for all ceramic veneers 
  • Comparisons with indirect composite options
  • Step by step preparation for all ceramic veneers with 2 protocols
  • Burs and armamentarium for predictable and time efficient veneer preparations
  • Introduction to immediate dentin sealing

Day 3: Anterior Metal-Ceramic Crowns and Bridges 

 This day will cover:

  • ceramic margins 
  • bridge designs and preparation
  • pontics 
  • gingival colour ceramics 
  • Maryland bridges

Aims and objectives 

This day will introduce the you to:

  • Step by step preparation for anterior and posterior aesthetic metal- ceramic crowns
  • Burs and armamentarium for predictable and time efficient preparations
  • Bridge designs and ovoid pontics
  • Ceramic margins options and Thorough laboratory prescriptions for sound and aesthetic metal ceramic restorations.
  • Anterior Maryland bridges.

Ceramic Inlays-Onlays

This day will cover indications, preparation, temporization, and materials for ceramic inlays-onlays. It will also cover predictable impressions, including materials, clinical technique, tissue management and tissue retraction.

Aims and objectives 

You will be introduced to 

  • The planning and indications of inlays and onlays indirect restorations for vital and endodontically treated teeth.
  • Specific preparation: step-by-step technique
  • The recommended types of materials, fabrication techniques and the necessary lab communication
  • The predictable temporisation of teeth prior to receiving such adhesive restorations.

You also will explore 

  • A specific intraoral impression technique for predictable, accurate and time efficient impressions.
  • A list of evidence-based proposed materials
  • Retraction and moisture technique, and moisture and bleeding control options and tools.

Tooth Whitening

This day will cover tooth whitening for vital and endo-treated teeth and management of whitening derived sensitivity.

Aims and objectives 

By the end of the day you will better understand:

  • the causes of tooth discolouration and mechanisms of tooth whitening
  • materials for tooth whitening and an overview of the most established commercially available products
  • products and management of tooth sensitivity
  • the step-by-step technique for internal whitening
  • management of “white spots”.

Cementation of All-Ceramic Restorations

This day will cover cements and cementation of all-ceramic restorations adjusting and polishing ceramics.

Aims and objectives 

This day will introduce you to:

  • step-by-step adhesive cementation protocols for etchable ceramics and indirect composite restorations
  • the available ceramics and ceramic restoration scenarios with recommended cementation process
  • the most established available resin cements
  • cementation with heated composite resin
  • isolation prior to cementation
  • adjustment and polishing armamentarium and process for ceramics
  • Excess removal, finishing and polishing of cementation margins

Business and Marketing Tools for a Successful Dental Practice

This is an interactive one-day workshop on communication tips for improving interactions in your dental practice.
