RDS Impact Study

Improving support for rare dementias

RDS members had the opportunity to be part of our varied and exciting research program, called ‘RDS Impact’.

This was the world’s largest study looking at support groups. The aim of our research was to explore the impact of support on people living with, at-risk, or alongside a person with rare dementias and people who formerly supported a person living with a dementia were also included in the research.

There have been many outputs from this study, ranging from papers, talks, exhibitions and books. Please check this page again soon to find out more.

The Impact study study started in 2019, and will end in 2024. It is a collaboration between University College London (UCL), Bangor University and Nipissing University in Canada, led by Professor Sebastian Crutch from the Dementia Research Centre, UCL. We are joint-funded by the Economic & Social Research Council (ESRC) and National Institute for Health Research (NIHR).
