UCL Engagement Strategy

UCL Engagement exists to support UCL’s core mission of transforming how the world is understood, how knowledge is created and shared, and how complex problems are solved. Our vision is to be the global leader in socially responsible engagement practice and research.

Read our one page strategy overview:

This strategy articulates our mission 'to empower every member of UCL staff, all our students and our alumni community to deliver positive social impact, locally and globally'. This mission and our work is underpinned by four principles:

Listen and Respond:

We will create a culture and environment in which all voices can be heard and listened to, especially those which have often been marginalised or drowned out by others.

Collaborate:

We will co-create with our partners the engagement blueprint of the future. The strategy will be a living document built over time, responsive to all our partners' input and to our changing national and global context.

Equity and Inclusion:

Will inform how we think and how we act across all strands of the strategy. We commit to acting on the data, evidence and recommendations which already exist around how we can dismantle institutional, systemic and structural barriers for specific communities (inside and outside UCL).

Experiment:

We will approach public and community engagement with the same curiosity-led approach we apply to UCL research and teaching. We will share what we learn about how to work with others to achieve more with government (local and national), UK Research and Innovation/funders. the Higher Education sector and beyond.
