Reward and recognition

Inspiring and sustaining an open, connected and creative culture at UCL is our project and our passion. We believe everyone throughout the university and across the communities we serve has an active part to play. We also believe that staff, students and researchers at UCL, and our community partners should be celebrated for this work and below is a list of opportunities for us to share these successes.

Research for All

Research for All is a journal that highlights the potential in public engagement for robust academic study, development of involved communities and research that has impact. Theoretical and empirical analysis features alongside authoritative commentary to explore engagement with different groups and their cultures. The journal is co-sponsored by the UCL Institute of Education and the National Co-ordinating Centre for Public Engagement (NCCPE)

For more information on submitting to the journal and to read previous issues, visit the Research for All website.

Provosts Awards for Public Engagement

The annual Provosts Awards for Public Engagement recognise the fantastic work that UCL's staff and students are doing to open up research and teaching at UCL to the wider world by engaging with communities. There are awards for various roles and career levels at UCL and a community award to recognise the contribution community partners make to research.

The awards are presented by the Provost at an awards ceremony which is a fantastic opportunity to bring engagement champions together, sharing stories and scoping ways to enrich UCL’s work through further collaboration with public, patient and community groups.

Public Engagement and Promotions

We work to ensure that public engagement is recognised within promotions criteria at UCL. At UCL, work in public engagement is a significant part of formal academic promotions criteria and we continue to find ways to embed engagement as a core part of university life.
