Creating Networks

We are here to bring the outside in and the inside out.

We believe that when a variety of voices are included, our research is better quality, more impactful, and more relevant in society. With networks across UCL, and outside UCL, we want to build connections between departments, disciplines, and communities.

Creating Connections

Creating Connections is a regular networking event that brings together UCL staff and postgraduate students with representatives from community organisations, charities, residents’ groups, social enterprises and statutory organisations, with the aim of finding mutually beneficial ways to work together. It is organised by UCL’s Public Engagement Unit and UCLU’s Volunteering Services Unit usually in association with one or more community partner. We run these events in both Camden and in East London. Find out when the next one is and sign up to join the Creating Connections network.

The School of Life and Medical Sciences (SLMS) Community of Engagers

SLMS Community of Engagers is a peer network for staff and students working with Public Engagement and Patient and Public Involvement (PPI/E), providing a space to develop and share their skills, experiences, resources and knowledge.

The group is primarily focused on face to face, termly meetings, with a digital presence and monthly newsletter. The network offers termly peer support meetings and a collaborative monthly newsletter for sharing PPI/E opportunities.

While focussed on the UCL School of Life and Medical Sciences, membership is open to all staff and students supporting or conducting activities that involve interactions with patient, community and public groups and individuals who can inform the various stages of the research process. This covers activity defined as public engagement, patient and public involvement, or an intersection of the two.

Next meetings are TBC due to the ongoing Covid-19 recommendations for social distancing.
