Expertise: Engineering for social change

Irina is Associate Professor (Teaching) in Engineering and Public Policy
at UCL Department of Science, Technology, Engineering and Public Policy. Irina teaches at the interface between science, engineering and policy, on topics including sustainability, social justice, social change and more. She also works on and supervises projects in the areas of engineering policy and community-engaged learning. She is an expert in interdisciplinary education, and brings in disciplinary expertise from across civil and mechanical engineering and public policy.

More about Irina:

Irina is Director of Undergraduate Education, UCL STEaPP. She is active in the outreach and widening participation space and delivers lectures, workshops and university and career talks in the UK and abroad. She is also a School Governor and Trustee and enjoys working with teachers and pupils, to improve access to Higher Education. 

Irina leads the BSc Science and Engineering for Social Change, delivered at UCL East, a unique transdisciplinary programme bringing science, engineering and policy together to train the next generation of social change leaders. She works in close collaboration with East community partners and is part of a group designing a scholarships programme to support students who want to study at UCL East.
