Scholarships

Within the department we offer a range of scholarships that may be of interest. Please find further details below.

UCL Engineering Dean’s Prize

The Dean’s Prize is a scholarship that supports outstanding overseas fee-paying research students by covering the cost of their fees. Full details can be found on the main UCL Scholarships site.

China Scholarships Council (CSC)

The CSC provides bursaries to students from China coming to study in the UK. At UCL these are linked to Dean’s Prize awards with the Dean’s Prize paying fees and the CSC paying a stipend. Full details can be found on the main UCL Scholarships site.

Students intending to study in the Faculty of Engineering Sciences at UCL who wish to apply for a CSC bursary must first have applied successfully for the Engineering Dean’s Prize.

UK (Home fee status) applicants with an active application may be eligible to apply for this scholarship. Applicants must be from an under-represented group within computer science. For more information, check your eligibility, and to apply, please see the Deepmind Scholarship (via the Windsor Fellowship) website.

The value of the scholarship will cover tuition fees in full, and provide a £16,000 maintenance stipend. The stipend will be paid as monthly instalments to the bank account of the successful candidates. Additionally, £2,000 is provided to cover travel to or attendance at relevant academic conferences (either in person or virtually). A further £1,500 is provided as an equipment grant.

The following programmes are eligible to apply:

  • MSc Machine Learning
  • MSc Data Science and Machine Learning

Applications Open: Monday 14 January 2022, 9am

Applications Close: Monday 6 June 2022, 9am

How to apply: https://www.windsor-fellowship.org/deepmind-scholarship

Application information: All applicants will be updated on the outcome of their application by the end of September. Please note that UCL ordinarily requires those with confirmed offers to pay a tuition fee deposit of £2,000 within 4 weeks of an offer being made. Please contact cs.pgt-admissions@ucl.ac.uk, ideally within 1 week of receiving an offer to confirm your scholarship application, so UCL’s systems can be updated to defer your deposit date before it becomes due. This will postpone your deposit due date until after scholarship decisions have been made, at which point, non-awardees will become liable for the full amount of the deposit.
