Which course are you studying?

MEng Computer Science

Why did you choose this course?

I am passionate about philanthropic technology entrepreneurship with a focus on increasing education and healthcare services in developing countries.

I chose to study Computer Science because I believe it the most foundational step in my endeavour to pursue my passion.

What’s the best thing about studying at the Computer Science department?

The enthusiasm and love for computer science I see from the faculty and fellow students is unparalleled. There is always some support available for everyone who seeks it. That is why I love studying at UCL.

What challenges have you faced in your studies so far and how did you overcome them?

The biggest challenge of studying at UCL is getting too involved with all the interesting projects around campus. I found that the solution is to just be careful and evaluate each opportunity with my goals before I begin.

What things do you wish you’d known before starting at UCL?

I wish I had known how connected that the CS Department is with the industry. The sheer amount of collaboration and innovation with industry has taken me by surprise this year.

What does equity mean to you?

Equity is the idea of democratising opportunity for everyone interested. The opportunity can be in academics, career, society, or even personal growth.

What is the best advice you have ever been given?

At a Track & Field event, a senior athlete once told me that my race is always with myself. As I push to set new personal bests in efficiency, effort, and work ethic, I will unknowingly become the greatest I can possibly be.

Who inspires you and why?

People considered the greatest of all time, like Muhammad Ali, Michael Jordan, and Nelson Mandela, inspire me the most.

Their defining traits like relentless pursuit and perseverance motivate me to push through, so that I may stand amidst them on the podium one day.

Where would you like to be in 5 years?

In the next 5 years, I would like to be a philanthropic technology entrepreneur solving some of the world's biggest problems.

What’s your favourite coding language?

I always find it hard to answer this question because most coding languages have their merits. However, I can easily say that the language I work with most often is Python.
