The UCL Climate Action Unit is heading to Hay-on-Wye this summer to deliver an immersive experience on decision-making in the face of climate change.

Hay festivals inspire, examine and entertain; inviting participants to imagine the world as it is and as it might be. The UCL Climate Action Unit will be there to deliver six sessions of a decision-making simulation called Do What You Must. The experience - built by digitial storytelling studio Fast Familiar - features insights from the disciplines of neuroscience and psychology compiled by Dr Kris De Meyer. These insights shine a light on how humans weigh information and make decisions in the face of impending and uncertain threats.

During the workshop, 12 participants must work together to safeguard the future of a fictional company threatened by the impending and uncertain impacts of climate change. At the end of the experience, participants will have a chance to reflect on and extrapolate their experience of decision-making during the scenario to their own personal context.
